METROSIDEROS EXCELSA LIGHTHOUSE LIGHTHOUSE POHUTUKAWA In New Zealand

METROSIDEROS EXCELSA LIGHTHOUSE - LIGHTHOUSE POHUTUKAWA

A selection of Metrosideros excelsa from Rangitoto Island in Auckland, Lighthouse has a more upright and tighter form than normal Pohutakawa. It has the same dark, rich, green, oval-shaped leaves, crimson red flowers and rough dark brown bark. Red aerial roots may develop on the lower portion of the trunk over time. With all the typical features of a normal Pohutakawa tree, Lighthouse is better suited to where a smaller growing is required. Hardy to coastal conditions.

Good Roots………

Roots are the anchors and feeding mechanism for a tree, if these are not right then the success of the tree is compromised.  What might look like a big strong tree may not be mirrored by it root system.  Icon Trees is one of the few nurseries that identify with this issue and dispose of these trees instead of growing them on to the next grade or supplying trees that will not successfully reach maturity.
